Acupuncture

"Most of time, a patient will experience major improvement after the first
treatment, or by the end of the first week on acupuncture."

Why should I consider Acupuncture?

Many people shriek or shudder at the idea of needles and who can blame them?  Most experience people have with needles is based in blood extraction or the administering of medications.   In order to have a correct view of what acupuncture is and its benefit for you, these traditional ideas of needles and their connection to pain must be removed from your consciousness temporarily.  Coming to the acupuncturist is nothing like visiting your local blood bank or general practitioner!  It is indeed a delightful and educational experience.

A balance in the energy flow (known as qi and chi) through the body is needed in order to stay healthy. When a blockage or imbalance occurs in that flow, your health is negatively impacted. There are 20 major pathways that qi is known to travel along. Let’s review this idea in another way.

The best way to deliver an unclear idea is through illustration.  Consider the inside of your body as a river.  As the river inside your body flows, toxins, waste and other daily pollutants flow as well.  Poor food choices or options, smoking, second hand smoking and all other negative influences begin to build up.  Where do you find waste and debris in a literal river?  Along the bank of the river.  As these toxins build in our blood and along the arteries in our body we begin the feel sluggish, tired.

Think too, about your river, the blood.  Blood is literally life and is most precious. If your blood is bogged down with toxins and pollutants, how close behind is stress, depression, anxiety and a host of other ailments?  As the banks of your internal river build more and more toxins your output is poor.  Bad input is bad output. It’s that’s simple. Our response time to life’s daily stresses become labored and more difficult.  All sorts of anxieties and conditions are linked to increased toxins in the body.

The Acupuncture Process

Very briefly, it is a process where a trained professional, after clearly understanding the root of your problem (whether it be emotional, physical or chemical) inserts needles into certain pressure points along your body in order to redirect energies in your system.  Thinking back to your ‘river’ inside, acupuncture changes the flow of your river in a more positive and beneficial direction. This allows the release of toxins and pollutants that have been logged along the banks of your internal river to be passed.

It is the special goal of the Houston Acupuncture and Herb Clinic  to consistently apply both the classic and modern knowledge of Chinese medicine and Acupuncture sciences to restore the health of our patients, as well as to maintain their health once they are well. We achieve these goals by focusing over 29 years of medical knowledge to assist in mobilizing the body's natural ability to heal.
